Interlibrary Loan Resources Sharing Grant
Your school district library or special library may be eligible for a new SCKLS Interlibrary Loan Resource Sharing Grant. As part of SCKLS Grant-in-aid Program Study Process Recommendations made in April 2007, the System Board authorized that “beginning in 2008, [SCKLS will] provide partial reimbursement to school and special libraries for the number of interlibrary loans of 50 or more that they provided to libraries outside their district or institution during the previous calendar year.” In 2009, SCKLS distributed $9,776 to 11 school and special libraries.
Guidelines
An eligible school district library or special library must have provided 50 or more interlibrary loans to libraries outside your district or institution during calendar year January 1, 2009 to December 31, 2009. Only interlibrary loans made to libraries outside your school district or special library institution may be counted. Loans of library materials made to individual libraries within your district may not be counted towards the 50 or more interlibrary loans required for eligibility.
Interlibrary loans provided from individual library sites within a district or institution may not be aggregated to meet the 50 or more interlibrary loans required for eligibility. More than one grant may be received by a district or institution if the individual library site within the district or institution meets the 50 or more interlibrary loans eligibility requirement.
The total grant amount that an eligible school or special library receives will be based on a rate of $4.00 for each interlibrary of 50 or more provided to libraries outside the district or institution. An application form must be submitted by
Friday, September 17. Required documentation for application includes a copy of your school or special library’s 2009 “Kansas Interlibrary Loan Activity Report” form or 2009 OCLC “Lender Activity Overview Report--Institution.” Checks will be distributed by September 30, 2010.
